Default Riffs riffs riffs, i love me some riffs

Ok, these are not blues, but hey, rock evolved from blues, so I'm hoping some of you will enjoy them as much as I did playing them these last couple weeks.

    First some classics from CCR.

I was reading something about Robben Ford recently.
Someone asked him, "How do you come up with new riffs?"
He said something like, "I don't play riffs...I play MUSIC."
It comes off as snobby, but it's something to think about.
    There's wisdom there.
As for CCR...maybe "hooks" is a better term.
Fogerty is one of my heroes and one of the kings of the amazing hook.
When the guitar hook is so critical to the song that you sing it like it's a lyric...THAT'S a song!
Like when "Satisfaction" comes on the radio, the first thing you sing is the guitar hook.

I agree totally, i guess we all just generalize when we say riffs

Hi guys, been a long time again since I posted here. Still struggling with my lower back, looks like I'll need a third surgery soon, so that's why I've been away.

Anyway, not here to complain but to share a new video I've managed to record this week, you know from before I'm all about Jimi and Stevie, my favorite guitarists, so I made a collection of 20 SRV riffs, licks, whatever you call them on 3 of my strats

Great playing. You are a very accomplished player to say the least. Sorry about the back. I know how that goes as I had L4 & L5 fused together a few years ago. Check out my channel as there are many good guitarists playing many riffs there. I do play a mean air guitar. lol

Oh thanks man, I'll check it out. About the fusion, did it help, how is it now? I had the disc removed at L5 S1, but they didn't fuse it, and now I'm in pain for almost 2 years...

Been 5 years since the fusion. I play golf twice a week and no pain.

Thanks Rdrokit, I'll ask my doctor if that can be done.

This week I recorded the other half of these riffs, this time from Jimi. I Think SRV came out better, but I hope you'll enjoy these too:
