Default Let's talk modern blues artists

Two at the top of my list:

    Matt Scofield!

    Kirk Fletcher!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmEddgOKpjA

He can be kind of a polarizing guy in some circles, but I'm really digging Joe Bonamassa's new album. More blues than some previous efforts, a bit deeper, better lyrically, and his solos are a little shorter and more "raw."

Who else has caught your ears?

    Default Thick

Thanks, ZGTR...Joe gets such thick gain...if pouring cement were music?...

BTW, his album cover's pretty cool. Is that a 1960s Triumph? Bonneville?

And Kirk Fletcher's Jump Blues is a hot, clean surprise. Nice contrast to Joe's style.

Gary Clark Jr. With no compromise in his unpolished, traditional style he made the Whitehouse...

    I don't care for Gary's act.
One dimensional. I'm surprised that he got that gig and that introduction.
    It's boring to listen to.

I agree, JJ. The guy is talented, no doubt about it. But he's a bit safe/ordinary. I don't really dig the soft soul voice combined with the fuzzy guitar tone. Doesn't work to my ears. I have no problem digging out my old BB King and Otis Rush albums if I want the traditional stuff.

However, there's a young guy out there named Benjamin Vo that does the authentic stuff very well. His playing and singing always keeps me interested. Blues listeners need to check him out.
